The Matariya prosecution remanded into custody Saturday two low-ranking policemen and the brother of one of the two, for four days pending investigations over accusations of arms trading.
Investigations showed that the drug control department in Cairo arrested a gang that included two policemen, over allegations of unlicensed weapon and ammunition trading.
The three suspects had 57 guns and 750 bullets in their possession. They admitted keeping the items for the purpose of trading.
Legal measures were taken against them and they were referred to prosecution for further investigations.
Meanwhile, the Interior Ministry said in a statement that “this is in line with the ministry’s policy of dealing strictly with violations and with whoever breaks the law; as well as taking legal measures with transparency against all sorts of violations.”
