Naval troops seized Sunday two Italian sailing boats that were sailing without license in Egyptian regional waters, military spokesperson Mohamed Samir said.
“As part of the armed forces efforts to secure the borders, the navy seized two Italian sailing boats sailing in the Egyptian regional waters without license. Fourteen persons of various nationalities were on board. All were referred to investigative authorities to take the necessary legal measures,” Samir posted on Facebook.
Meanwhile, troops saved a tourist yacht with 24 tourists on board and its crew composed of nine Egyptians, after its engine broke down south of Marsa Alam.
All passengers on board were saved and the yacht was taken to the naval base. Necessary medical care was offered.
The tourists commended the swift response by rescuers.
