Two Egyptians and a Libyan arrived from Libya in critical condition late Saturday evening through the Salloum border crossing. They had come from the city of Benghazi, 600km west of the border, and were taken to Matrouh General Hospital for treatment.
The two Egyptians are Yusuf Abdul Rahman al-Sayed, 25, from Assiut, and Saad Fadl Michael, 37, from Matrouh. Both suffer bleeding in the brain as a result of beatings to their heads during the violence in Benghazi.
Esam Abd al-Salam, a 33-year old Libyan from Benghazi, was the third patient. He was injured by shrapnel.
According to news reports at least ten Egyptians have been killed in Libya since the start of demonstrations calling for the overthrow leader Muammar Qadhafi on February 17.
About 53,000 Egyptians fled the country, arriving in Egypt through Salloum, while about 20,000 have gone to Tunisia to escape the violence.
