Two-day break for students in Egyptian schools serving as rerun polling stations

Final preparations are underway across several Egyptian governorates for the rerun of the 2025 House of Representatives elections in the districts where results were previously annulled.

Voting is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday.

Schools as polling stations

Educational directorates are currently preparing to hand over schools selected to serve as polling stations.

The election holiday will be restricted only to students attending the schools used as voting centers. Classes will continue normally in all other schools across the voting governorates, with no changes to academic schedules or monthly exam dates.

Teachers and staff at the designated polling station schools are expected to maintain their attendance according to the instructions of the educational administrations to participate in necessary administrative preparations and oversight.

Reason for the rerun

The rerun is being held to implement a ruling issued by the Supreme Administrative Court on November 29, which mandated the annulment of the original election results in these districts due to confirmed irregularities that compromised the integrity of the voting process.

Elections for these specific districts have already taken place for Egyptians abroad on Monday and Tuesday, while domestic governorates prepare to receive voters this coming Wednesday and Thursday.
