Two young girls, 5, and 3, were killed in an explosion from an IED they found near their home in Wadi al-Natroun, Beheira.
Beheira security was notified that the girls ran into the unidentified object while playing outside their house before the bomb went off.
Egypt has witnessed series of fatal bombings across the country since the ouster of former president Mohamed Morsi in 2013. Authorities have accused Morsi’s Muslim Brotherhood of masterminding the bombings, though many outside observers say this claim lacks evidence.
