The South Cairo Prosecution ordered the detention on Sunday of 20 Muslim Brotherhood members for 15 days pending investigations into their alleged involvement in the violent acts that took place in the neighborhood of Maadi on Friday.
The defendants are charged with violating the protest law, damaging public and private property, assaulting security forces, joining a banned group that aims to disrupt the work of state institutions and killing residents of the neighborhood.
They allegedly were in possession of firearms and knives and were flashing the Rabaa sign and raising pictures of deposed President Mohamed Morsy when they were arrested.
Friday's violence left four people dead and others wounded.
