Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyep Erdogan is set to address an Arab foreign ministers' meeting during a visit to Egypt next week that is expected to focus on regional conflicts.
An Arab League official said Erdogan's address on Tuesday is expected to deal with the political crisis in Syria and his country's mounting tension with Israel.
Erdogan is scheduled to meet with leader of Egypt's military council Field Marshal Mohammad Hussein Tantawi and the Prime Minister Essam Sharaf on Monday to discuss bilateral political and military cooperation.
Press reports suggested that officials from the two countries are holding discussions on signing a strategic cooperation agreement in military, political and economic fields.
Some media outlets also reported that Erdogan might travel from Cairo to Gaza for a brief visit to the Hamas controlled Strip.
Turkey has announced a series of measures against Israel, including expulsion of the Israeli ambassador and downgrading of diplomatic ties.
Ankara's expulsion of the Israeli envoy has puts pressure on Cairo to downgrade ties following outrage over the killings of Egyptian policemen on the Sinai border with Israel last month.
