Tunis holds Egyptian fishing boat for penetrating territorial waters

Tunisian authorities have detained an Egyptian fishing boat with 16 fishermen, all from the village of Borg Megheizal in Kafr El-Sheikh, for allegedly penetrating Tunisian territorial waters.

Ahmed Abdo Nassar, head of the Fishermen Syndicate in Kafr El-Sheikh, said on Wednesday that boat “Saleh Al-Kabir” sailed on 10 October to Malta. “The captain called me and said the boat was detained in the Tunisian port of Sfax,” he said. “They are charged with violating fishing rules and penetrating territorial waters.”
