President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received a telephone call on Monday from US President Donald Trump who expressed the US' condemnation of the terrorist attacks that targeted the Mar Guirgis Church in Tanta and St. Mark's Orthodox Cathedral in Alexandria.
Trump expressed his deep condolences to the victims of the two incidents, noting that he has confident in Egypt's ability to deal with the situation and counter terrorism. He stressed his country's support for Egypt and its people in confronting the phenomenon of terrorism which threatens the whole world, according to the official spokesperson for the presidency's Facebook page.
Sisi expressed his gratitude for the American president's keenness to offer condolences to the victims of the two attacks. He affirmed that these events will not dissuade the Egyptian people from continuing to fight terrorism and will not succeed in thwarting efforts to establish security, stability and development.
The escalation of terrorism worldwide underscores the need for concerted efforts by the international community to develop comprehensive plan to confront this danger, uproot it, and send a decisive message to those who finance terrorist organizations and provide them with weapons and fighters, Sisi added.
