Trial of Morsy, others over killing protesters adjourned until Sunday

Cairo Criminal Court decided on Saturday to adjourn the trial of deposed President Mohamed Morsy and 14 others affiliated to the Muslim Brotherhood group over charges of killing protesters in December 2012 to Sunday to screen videos on CDs.

The court resumed the sixth session of the trial. On 4 February, the court set 1 March as a deadline for the Egyptian Radio and TV Union to submit a technical report about videos submitted by prosecutors which depicted scenes of the clashes outside Ettehadiya.

Court reviewed 13 out of the 34 videos. Defense then expressed objection as the court noted that two CDs were watched, which was contradicting to what was claimed by prosecution in the referral decision.

According to security source, all the suspects, including Morsy arrived for the trial. Morsy was transferred from Aqrab prison on a jet.

The suspects, including seven runaways, are accused of inciting murder of three opponents of Morsy and injury of others in front of the presidential palace on 5 December 2012.

High security measures were taken around the academy. Eight vehicles were stationed there. Supporters of each of Morsy and Field Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi were not seen.

The court decided in beginning of February to delegate a committee formed of three technicians to check CDs, submitted by prosecution over the incidents, which were claimed to include evidence on assaults by Morsy supporters on opponents as well as killing and injuring them.
