The Cairo Criminal Court will resume on Thursday the trial of activist Ahmed Douma and 268 others in the case known in media as the 2011 Cabinet clashes.

The court adjourned on 11 May the hearing to meet the defense's requests. The court asked the public prosecutor to summon the prosecution's witnesses and asked the Interior Ministry to prepare the hall to display videos as evidence.

The defendants have been accused of assembling, possessing knives and Molotov cocktails, assaulting armed forces and police personnel, burning the Intsitut d'Egypte, attacking government buildings (including the headquarters of the Cabinet, the Shura and People Assembly councils) and attempting to storm the Interior Ministry and burn it.

Some have also been accused of practicing medicine without a license.
