
Passenger train #299 collided with a truck carrying electricity poles on Marsa Matrouh-Alexandria line, on Monday, near the village of Shabeeb in Dabaa area of Egypt’s North Coast.
An Egyptian National Railways (ENR) official confirmed that one of the train cars derailed due to the collision, but no injuries or fatalities were reported.
The train was traveling from Marsa Matrouh to Moharram Bey station in Alexandria, having departed Marsa Matrouh at 3:40 pm.
ENR cranes were immediately dispatched to the scene, and the derailed car was put back onto the tracks, restoring normal train service.
The railway authority has launched an investigation into the incident to determine the cause of the accident.
