Minister of Trade and Industry Ahmed Samir Tuesday discussed with Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, and her accompanying delegation, the major global trade challenges and means of overcoming them.
The minister asserted the necessity of supporting WTO Member States, especially the developing ones, in order to assist them in dealing with crises and challenges hindering the movement of the global economy, in particular the challenges of food security, climate change, the consecutive geopolitical crises as well as the disturbances of the global supply chains.
The meeting reviewed the outcomes and recommendations of the WTO’s 13th Ministerial Conference (MC13) that took place from February 26 to March 2, in Abu Dhabi, the United Arab Emirates, according to a statement issued by the Ministry of Trade and Industry.
