Head of the Maritime Rescue Association in Hurghada, Hassan al-Tayyeb, said that nine Spanish tourists and three Egyptians were rescued after a yacht sunk Friday morning in the al-Quwaih area of the Red Sea governorate.
The survivors managed to use lifebuoys from the sunken yacht, and arrived safely and uninjured to a beach north of Quseir city.
Tayyeb relayed that the tourists had been on a diving trip before the yacht started to sink. The cause is still unknown.
