Tourism Minister Sherif Fathy has praised “strategic” and “historical” relations between Egypt and France, whether at the government level or between both peoples.
Fathy, in a meeting with French Ambassador in Cairo Eric Chevalier Tuesday, discussed means of boosting bilateral cooperation in the field of tourism and archeology.
They discussed mechanisms to increase the flow of French tourists to Egypt in the coming stage.
The meeting also took up archeological projects implemented by the two countries. Fathy expected the number of tourists visiting Egypt to reach about 15.3 million by the end of this year.
The minister talked about improved infrastructure of roads, bridges, airports and new cities, noting that all this serves the tourism industry and makes the journey between the different tourist attractions easier.
He also touched upon a Ministry strategy to encourage tourism investments, particularly in the hotel sector.
Fathy said his Ministry is working on a strategy that focuses on promoting the diversity of tourism products in Egypt. He added that work is underway to create new products and upgrade existing ones.
