Tourism and Antiquities Minister Ahmed Eisa has paid a visit to inspect the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM).
During his tour on Saturday, the minister denied claims that rainfall posed any danger to the museum or its artifacts.
He reiterated that the museum lobby is a semi open area to allow sunlight and air to get into the museum.
The minister added that the museum is designed under the world’s most advanced, accurate and well-studied manner and systems, noting that no changes have been made to the GEM design.
For her part, Merette Elsayed, Chief Commercial Officer of Hassan Allam Holding, which is responsible for running the GEM, said the consortium managed to drain rainwater within just 10 minutes without causing any damage to the museum and its collections.
