The Cairo Economic Court issued on Monday a five-year prison sentence against Tiktok influencer Hader Atef, in addition to a seven-year prison sentence against her ex-husband, over charged related to defrauding a large number of citizens by seizing huge sums of money under the pretext of investing them in exchange for monthly profits.
The case included accusing Atef, her current husband, her ex-husband and his sister of deceiving citizens and fooling them into investing their money in investment fields such as car and real estate trade.
The 28-year old influencer exploited her fame on social media, especially TikTok, to collect huge sums of money from hundreds of victims.
According to the Public Prosecution investigations, she initially paid monthly profits to increase investors’ confidence in her, before she stopped paying, which led to the case exploding.
During previous sessions, Atef’s lawyer requested to review the surveillance cameras surrounding his client’s villa in the Fifth Settlement during her arrest, and to summon witnesses for the prosecution and defense.
The defense also submitted a request to download the contents of Atef’s phone and discuss the report related to her posts on social media, which included calls for citizens to invest their money.
