Tight security in Alexandria for Sisi’s attendance of Youth Conference

On Monday, Alexandria tightened security measures in anticipation of the Youth Conference attended by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, which takes place from 24 to 25 July this year.

The Alexandria Security Directorate has tightened its control over the streets by placing a number of police vehicles at the entrances to the governorate, with other vehicles dispersed on the sides of the road. Traffic police are present on both sides of the cornice road to prevent traffic congestion, with a number of fixed and mobile checkpoints established in the area.

Interior Minister Magdy Abdel Ghaffar held a meeting with the security leaders of the Alexandria Security Directorate on Saturday evening to review the security plans for the governorate during the conference.

Abdel Ghaffar stressed the importance of intensifying security deployment on the main streets and axes, and assigning patrols and secret services to observe the situation and deal with all emergencies in order to ensure the safety of citizens.

The minister is particularly concerned about places of worship, and has ensured the protection and surveillance of such sites.
