Ticket prices for the Grand Egyptian Museum

The Tourism and Antiquities Ministry through its official Facebook page, announced the prices of tickets to enter and visit the available places of the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) for Egyptians and foreigners, in addition to the museum’s working hours throughout the week.

Tickets can be booked through the museum’s official website.

 

Ticket prices for Egyptians

  • Visitor: LE 350.
  • Youth: LE 200.
  • Student: LE 200.
  • Seniors: LE 200.

 

Ticket prices for foreigners

  • Visitor: LE 1200.
  • Youth: LE 750.
  • Student: LE 750.

 

A truly grand museum

The GEM contains large number of distinctive and unique artifacts, including the treasures of the golden king Tutankhamun, being displayed for the first time in full since the discovery of his tomb in November 1922.

The GEM also includes the collection of Queen Hetepheres, the mother of King Khufu, the builder of the Great Pyramid of Giza, and the Museum of King Khufu’s boats, in addition to various archaeological collections from the pre-dynastic era to the Greek and Roman eras.

The museum has places for cultural activities and events such as a children’s museum, an educational center, temporary exhibition halls, cinema, conference center, as well as many commercial areas that include shops, cafeterias and restaurants, in addition to gardens and parks.

The GEM is open to visitors all days of the week, from nine am to 10:00 pm.

 

Main sectors

– Main Museum Building

The main building contains 12 exhibition halls equipped with the latest audio and lighting technologies, in addition to more than 50,000 artifacts, some of which were transferred in 2016 from Luxor Governorate including war chariots, funerary beds, and the treasures of King Tutankhamun.

– The Grand Staircase (Main Hall)

The Grand Staircase is 25 meters long and is located in the main lobby area as it is the center for receiving visitors, leading to the most important tourist attractions inside the museum such as the Obelisk Square, the first hanging Pharaonic obelisk in the world and the Pyramids Wall which extends 600 meters wide, leading to the statue of King Ramses II.

– Museum Garden

Known as the “Garden of the Land of Egypt”, it will feature various types of trees that the ancient Egyptians revered.

– Tourist walkway

An area that aims to transport tourists between the new Egyptian Museum and the three pyramids by shuttle.

– Restoration Center

The center is located on an area of 32,000 square meters, and consists of 19 restoration laboratories to preserve the archaeological exhibits.

These include the mummies laboratory, the microbiology laboratory, the electron microscope laboratory, the gemstone laboratory, the porcelain and glass laboratory, the wood and coffin industry laboratory, and the leather antiquities laboratory.
