The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) announced that temperatures will be high on Thursday across most of the country, reaching 47 degrees Celsius (116.6 degrees Fahrenheit) in the shade in the southern Aswan Governorate.
This comes at the peak of the current heatwave.
In a statement posted on Facebook, the EMA said that the severe heatwave will continue, with the weather being very hot during the day in most governorates, hot on the northern coasts, and tending to be hot at night.
The EMA added that the severe heat wave will begin to break down on Saturday, with the country witnessing a slight decrease in temperatures ranging from four to three degrees Celsius (7.2 to 5.4 degrees Fahrenheit) north of the country, Greater Cairo, and Upper Egypt.
