Three suspects apprehended in Taba bus blast, South Korea to evacuate citizens in Egypt

Security sources in Sharqiya say three suspects have been apprehended for involvement in the Taba tourist bus blast which took place on Sunday by a suicide bomber killing four and injuring 16 others, Al-Masry Al-Youm reported.

South Korea will evacuate its citizens in Egypt, in the aftermath of warnings by the Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis group against foreign tourists in Egypt.

The local South Korean news agency Yonhap quoted an official from Seoul as saying that “The foreign ministry is making utmost efforts to track down and evacuate South Korean travelers in the Egypt area,” after the terrorist group’s threats to carry out more attacks against foreigners.

Ansar Bayt al-Maqdis earlier claimed responsibility of the attack. The group warned the foreigners in Egypt of being targeted if they did not leave within four days.

"It's still not clear whether the group is behind [the attack], but [the ministry] is taking steps to contact all South Koreans traveling or staying in the region and advise them to leave," said the official said on the condition of anonymity.

The first group of South Koreans who survived the attack against the bus will return back on Wednesday.
