Three killed, 34 injured in bus crash at Luxor highway

Three people were killed and 34 others were injured when a passenger bus, traveling from Luxor to Cairo, overturned on the Eastern Desert Highway east of Luxor.

The Luxor Security Director received an alert from the operations room, based on a report from the emergency police, about a passenger bus overturning.

Twenty ambulances were dispatched to the scene.

They transported the injured to Al-Karnak International Hospital for medical treatment, while the bodies of the deceased were taken to the morgue pending investigations.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances of the accident to determine its cause, with initial reports suggesting that the driver may have lost control due to excessive speed or a tire blowout.

The Luxor Governorate operations room declared a state of emergency, raising the readiness level at hospitals and ensuring that all necessary medical care is provided to the injured.

A police report was filed, and the Public Prosecution Office was notified to begin investigations.
