Three cases of fashiola reported in Gharbiya

Three children in the village of Zefta in the Gharbiya Government were reported on Wednesday to have been infected with the fashiola disease, causing panic among local residents.

All three cases showed symptoms usually associated with the illness, including diarrhea, vomiting, stomach ache and high temperatures.

In an attempt to prevent the spread of the disease, the local health directorate has taken random samples from 50 families in the area for analysis. The directorate has also advised villagers to thoroughly wash all vegetables before eating.

“Fashiola is a rare disease, but it isn't contagious,” said Mohamed Sabbaq, director of preventative medicine.
