Thousands of passengers were stranded at metro station platforms in Cairo Wednesday morning due to an electricity failure.
State media outlets said trains on the Marg-Helwan line resumed operations after a two-hour break.
Station authorities assured passengers the failure would take just ten minutes to fix, but citizens waited in vain before some opted to take alternate routes to their destinations.
Metro failures have been frequent recently, particularly on the Marg-Helwan and Shubra-Giza lines. Trains have either completely stopped or had their speed reduced, causing widespread passenger dissatisfaction.
