The General Supervisor of the International Relations and Agreements Department at the Egyptian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities Amr Abdullah said the ministry has a clear strategy in dealing with the post Covid-19 era topped by increasing the number of tourists between 28 percent to 30 percent per year to reach 30 million tourists by 2028.
In statement to MENA on Sunday 11-6-2023, during his participation in the 49th meeting of the Regional Commission for the Middle East of the World Tourism Organization (WTO), the ministry of tourism official said the World Health Organization’s (WHO) trajectories indicated that the Middle East region performance was the strongest compared to other regions following the coronavirus pandemic.
Meantime, he highlighted the ministry’s keenness on continued participation in the various international organizations, as well as world forums to strengthen cooperation and partnership and reach further agreements related to the tourism sphere, in addition to contributing to preserving traditional heritage.
He also referred to the ministry’s vital role in cooperation with the private sector to provide ameliorate tourism atmosphere, including incentives meant to encourage investments that would help accommodate to the targeted number of tourists.
As for Egyptian-Jordanian cooperation in the tourism domain, Abdullah lauded ties binding the two countries in all fields, especially the tourism sector.
The 49th meeting of the Regional Commission for the Middle East of the World discusses the latest developments in the tourism sector, along with electing temporary and permanent committees in the organization.
The meeting will also go over the plans and strategies of the WTO, together with programs and projects that will be established in the future.
