Petroleum Ministry sources said that the test pumping of natural gas to Jordan and Israel would be resumed this week, 40 days after the flow of gas was halted.
They said they would start pumping small quantities first to make sure the pipeline is intact, and that security measures had been tightened so as to protect the pipeline from further possible terrorist attacks.
They also said that resuming the supply of gas to Israel would help Egypt in negotiating better prices.
“The East Mediterranean Gas Company has not yet resorted to international arbitration regarding our intention to renegotiate prices,” said Petroleum Minister Abdallah Ghorab.
