Tens of Sisi backers in Tahrir to celebrate revolution’s anniversary

Tens of citizens flocked at Tahrir Square in Cairo Saturday  morning to attend the commemoration of the third anniversary of the 2011 uprising that unseated former president Hosni Mubarak.

Participants hoisted posters of Defense Minister Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and banners supportive of the army and police. A stage has been erected where nationalist songs played through loudspeakers.

Some people formed vigilante groups to secure the square's entrances.

Police and army forces had  closed the area in face of vehicles.

The Muslim Brotherhood-led National Alliance to Support Legitimacy, which has lead non-stop protests demanding the reinstatement of deposed president Mohamed Morsy, had earlier declared plans for fresh protests setting off from several areas of Cairo.
