Tender for Egypt’s first nuclear reactor postponed

The tender for Egypt's first nuclear station has been postponed for two weeks, Minister of Electricity and Energy Hassan Younis said on Monday.

The government will now invite a tender for the station at the end of January, although it was originally scheduled for December.

Younis made the announcement at the World Future Energy Summit in Abu Dhabi.

Hisham Fouad Ali, former head of the Atomic Energy Authority, said that work to establish the first Egyptian nuclear reactor should go at a faster pace.

Processing the offers will take approximately six months, so they should be submitted quickly, he added.
