Walid Ramadan, Vice President of the Telecommunications, Mobile and Satellite Division at the Chamber of Commerce, revealed the truth about the increase in the prices of telecommunications and internet services, including the prices of recharge cards.
During a phone-in on the ‘Al Hekaya’ program on MBC Masr channel on Saturday evening, Ramadan said that no decision has yet been made to raise the prices of telecommunications and internet services.
He denied that a 100 EGP recharge card was being offered with a balance of LE45, stating that a LE100 recharge card provides a balance of LE70.
The Vice President of the Telecommunications and Mobile Division indicated that these statements were misinterpreted, as no price increase has been determined, nor has the value of the increase been specified.
He explained that the National Telecommunications Regulatory Authority recently announced a re-evaluation of the pricing of telecommunications services; voice services and internet services, but this does not necessarily mean approval of a price increase.
He affirmed that the Authority has not given approval to telecommunications companies to raise the prices of telecommunications services, and that what happened was giving preliminary approval to re-evaluate the pricing of telecommunications services.
