Egyptian business tycoon Naguib Sawiris has called on the Arab Economic Summit, which will kick off on Wednesday in Sharm el-Sheikh, to support the Arab private sector with the aim of creating new jobs opportunities and reducing unemployment among the region's young.
“Arab leaders should prove their devotion to the private sector’s important role,” Sawiris said, noting that some Arab governments claimed to support the private sector when in reality they were working against it.
“Governments should not only talk about reducing prices of strategic commodities, but should also work on genuine democratization,” said the telecom mogul, stressing the "inseparable" nature of politics and economics.
