Hundreds of employees from the Coca Cola company staged a sit-in in Talkha City, Daqahlia on Wednesday, inside the company's factory, to protest the company's decision to shut down the factory and lay off workers.
"We are 610 workers at the factory. The decision to shutdown will lead to our displacement," one of the protesters, Mahmoud al-Sayed, told Al-Masry Al-Youm. "Some workers were appointed only three or four years ago, which means that the severance package will not cover their expenses past two months," he added.
"The company is debating transferring workers to other branches in other governorates, but the salary would not even cover transport expenses," Sayed added.
