Talk show presenter Amr Adeeb to join Al-Hayat satellite network

Prominent talk show presenter Amr Adeeb has joined the Al-Hayat satellite network, for which he will present a new talk show entitled "Egypt: A Big House" starting in January, according to industry sources.

“Adeeb is a great asset for us,” said network director Mohamed Abdel Metaal. “He will address important social and political issues on the new program.”

He added that the network planned to appoint the same production team that had worked with Adeeb when the latter was with the Saudi-owned Orbit satellite television network.

Late last month, Egyptian authorities closed studios belonging to Orbit, which had broadcast a popular political talk show hosted by Adeeb, who has become known for openly criticizing top government officials.

“Al-Hayat was the number-one network during Ramadan according to viewership polls,” Abdel Metaal said. “That's why we're keen to provide Arab viewers with the best content.”
