The Press Independence Defense Committee of the Journalists Syndicate has expressed deep concern at the continuing intimidation and arrest of journalists, stressing that such approach suppresses rights and public freedoms, and violates the Constitution.
Coordinator Bashir al-Adl has called for the immediate release of all journalists remanded in custody without charge.
“We journalists understand the special circumstances of the country, but we do not accept this as a justification for illegal excesses,” he said.
