Swiss President Micheline Calmy-Rey said on Monday that she is optimistic about the future of democracy in Egypt.
She made the statement at the opening ceremony of the 125th Inter-Parliamentary Union session in Bern, Switzerland, which was attended by delegates from 166 countries.
Calmy-Rey also expressed her admiration of the Egyptian people for demanding freedom and social justice, away from religious orientations that could cause discord among them.
