Egypt must issue judicial rulings for Switzerland to return the frozen funds of former members of ex-president Hosni Mubarak's regime, the Swiss Embassy announced Tuesday.
Egypt's cabinet had agreed to allow a judicial committee, formed by a decision from the ruling military council, to negotiate with the Swiss government to restore the funds.
But in the statement, the Swiss Embassy said it has not received any such requests.
In statements to Al-Masry Al-Youm, an embassy source Switzerland has not received information on the formation of any such legal committee or any other steps.
A team of Swiss experts visited Egypt in May to provide help to Egyptian judicial authorities on the restoration of funds, and the meeting was useful for both sides, the source said.
