Cairo security services arrested suspect, who allegedly was mentally ill, on Saturday in Mansheyyet Nasser, as investigations and eyewitnesses say he charged into Virgin Mary Church, leaving three injured.
He then tried to escape, but residents were able to arrest him and notify police.
Mansheyyet Nasser Police station was notified by visitors of the church in the same district over injury of three of the worshippers by an unknown person who was in possession of an edged weapon.
Residents arrested the suspect and seized the weapon he used until police arrived. Investigators say the suspect was mentally ill. He was referred to prosecution, which ordered him to be referred to a menal health clinic to check his mental condition.
