The Domestic Trade and Supply Ministry signed a contract on Saturday to purchase 60,000 tons of wheat from Romania through an international tender at US$190.88 per ton.
Importing will start on 10 March and will continue for 10 days.
Supply Minister Khaled Hanafy said the amounts mentioned in the contract will secure the strategic reserve of wheat until mid-May.
In December, Egypt turned away a cargo of French wheat, claiming it contained too much of a fungus called ergot.
