Supplies enough for 3 months, says official

"Any unrest that may accompany the announcement of the next president will not affect the strategic reserves of commodities," said Fathy Abdel Aziz, head of the control and distribution department at the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade.

He said that "The government has provided large amounts of sugar, cooking oil, rice, tea, and other main supplies, enough for more than three months."

"The stock of wheat in the country is enough to produce subsidized bread until the end of January of next year. We have a strategic stock of local and imported wheat of about 5 million tons," Abdel Aziz told Al-Masry Al-Youm.

On distributing gas cylinders using coupons, Abdel Aziz said "The cabinet has completed all measures related to the project, and its implementation depends on the announcement of the new president and him being sworn in to give orders [to the cabinet] to start."

He said the cabinet has completed the distribution of 40 million coupons to supply sellers in various parts of the republic, and will start distributing them to citizens after the new president is sworn in.
