Egypt’s Minister of Labor Hassan Shehata announced that Sunday will be an official paid holiday for workers in private sector companies, on the occasion of Eastern Christmas.
He explained that this comes out of the Prime Minister’s decision regarding the Christmas holiday in ministries, government departments, public bodies, local administration units, public sector companies, public business sector companies, and private sector.
The minister congratulated Coptic citizens on the occasion of Christmas celebrations, stressing that the people of Egypt are “one fabric” under the umbrella of a “new republic” whose foundations are laid by President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
The ministry also issued a periodic letter to its central departments and labor directorates across the country, highlighting the employer’s right to use the worker on this day if work conditions require it.
