Sunday sees cold, rainy weather throughout Egypt: EMA

The Egyptian Meteorological Authority (EMA) has warned of unstable weather conditions on Sunday, cold at night and early morning, with moderate temperatures during the day across most of the country.

The EMA advised citizens to wear warm clothing to avoid catching colds during this time of year.

The authority predicted rainfall along the northern coast, the Lower Egypt, the Suez Canal cities, the Sinai Peninsula, Greater Cairo, northern Upper Egypt, and the Western Desert.

Rainfall is expected to increase on Monday, accompanied by a noticeable drop in temperatures, particularly along most of the northern coast.

Weather maps anticipated active winds that could stir up sand and dust in parts of central and southern Upper Egypt and the northern Red Sea region at intervals.

The Mediterranean Sea is expected to be moderate to rough, with waves reaching 1.5 to 2.5 meters, with northwestern winds.

The Red Sea is expected to be moderate, with waves reaching 1.5 to two meters with southeastern winds.

Expected temperatures for Sunday:

  • Matrouh: 19C
  • Alexandria: 20C
  • Cairo: 23C
  • Sharm El-Sheikh: 26C
  • Hurghada: 28C
