The Military Court adjourned to 7 July the trial of seven Suez protesters who were arrested on 4 May during clashes that occurred in the vicinity of the Suez Security Directorate and the Suez governorate headquarters in conjunction with the Abbasseya violence.
Third Field Army forces responsible for securing the building arrested eight protesters who were throwing stones at military personnel. One protester was charged in a separate case with possession of fireworks.
Prosecutors accused the defendants of attacking public officials and resisting authorities. Following the court’s decision to adjourn the trial, the detainees’ families protested outside the military prosecution to demand the release of their loved ones.
