Suez Canal disrupted as ship runs aground

Traffic through Egypt's Suez Canal was disrupted after a 42,000-ton container ship ran aground on Sunday due to engine failure, an official at the Suez Canal Authority said.

The ship, carring the Israeli flag, ran aground at al-Kantara city near the Mediterranean port city of Port Said, blocking the movement of 28 other ships in the waterway, the official said.

Efforts are under way to move the ship that round aground, the official said.
