Suez Canal Authority Chairman Mohab Mamish embarked on the French giant container ship CMA CGM LAPEROUSE on Sunday and delivered a message of reassurance to the international navigation industry that navigation in the Suez Canal is completely safe and that the traffic rate of the channel is at its best.
“The canal will remain open to all countries of the world without discrimination,” he said. “It will always remain an artery that brings good to Egypt and to the world.”
He also said that the work in the new channel will be finished on time. “We dredge one million cubic meters per day and we plan to reach two million cubic meters,” he said. “We have already dredged 17 percent of the targeted 250 million cubic meters.”
