Suez Brotherhood backs pro-Morsy alliance in prisoner case

The Muslim Brotherhood in Suez said on Saturday it is completely behind the National Alliance in Support of Legitimacy regarding eight prisoners detained by Egypt's army.

The eight prisoners were sentenced to a year in prison by a military court on charges of assaulting troops, following clashes outside the Suez governorate building.

The Brotherhood said in a statement on Saturday that a special attorney for the defendants had been sent to the Third Army, however when it came down to legal steps, the Brotherhood backs whatever the pro-Morsy alliance decides.

Major General Osama Askar, the commander of the Third Army, decided to reduce the verdict against the defendants from two years down to one year after their families filed a plea to the military court in Suez.
