Sudanese Minister of Health Haitham Mohamed Ibrahim has praised Egypt’s support for his country to overcome the woes of war.
In statements to MENA correspondent in Amman on the sidelines of the 8th edition of Eastern Mediterranean Public Health Network in Amman, (EMPHNET), the Sudanese Minister said that Egypt has been extending all kinds of support for the Sudanese people.
He said that Egypt also offered all kinds of facilitation to deliver humanitarian aid to the Sudanese people and also hosted a large number of Sudanese refugees and extended to them medical care on the borders.
Ibrahim added that the Egyptian government facilitated the issuance of entry visas to patients and students to study at Egyptian schools.
He said that many Sundanese health facilities were subject to destruction because of the military operations, a matter that affects the health of citizens, warning of the spread of cholera as a result of war.
The regional conference includes interactive workshops and presentations on a wide range of pressing health issues, including communicable diseases, surveillance of emerging and re-emerging diseases, immunization against vaccine-preventable diseases, epidemiological investigations, maternal and child health, and non-communicable diseases.
Among the highlights of this conference are two forums to discuss the health challenges facing the Gaza Strip and Sudan, where priorities, challenges, and solutions in these two most affected regions in the region will be discussed and ways to provide the necessary support to them.
EMPHNET is a regional network operating in the countries of the Eastern Mediterranean region, headquartered in Jordan, and contributes to the development of policies and programs that aim to improve the response to health crises and enhance readiness in the face of emergency challenges.
