A student was shot dead with cartridges in clashes between security forces and elements and supporters of the Muslim Brotherhood in the vicinity of the Deirab Negm police station in Sharqiya.
A security source said the police was dispersing a Brotherhood march chanting slogans against the state institutions on Friday, and when they arrested a protester, the other protesters clashed with them to free him, while shots were fired from an unidentified source, killing the 23-year-old student.
Meanwhile in Matareya, another Brotherhood march threw fireworks at police while dispersing them with tear gas canisters. The march was part of three marches in the neighborhood after the Friday prayers to protest the death sentences against the leaders of the group.
All marchers were dispersed and had to run to the side streets to escape.
