State TV announced it will hold an 'indirect' debate between the two presidential hopefuls contesting the runoff, former Prime Minister Ahmed Shafiq and Freedom and Justice Party nominee Mohamed Morsy, after both rejected the idea of a direct confrontation.
Al-Ahram newspaper said Saturday that state TV's news department has finished preparing the form of the debate, and it will be broadcast live on Tuesday.
"Broadcasters from the news and television departments are scheduled to interview each of the candidates individually," the state-run paper said.
Al-Ahram added that Shafiq's interview will be broadcast live at 10 pm Tuesday on the Nile News Channel and the Egyptian Satellite Channel, while Morsy's will be broadcast at the same time on TV channels one and two.
Both interviews will be rebroadcast alternately on the other two channels at midnight, immediately after the live broadcast.
