US State Department spokesperson Jen Psaki said in a press briefing on Monday that Secretary of State John Kerry met with Egyptian PM Ibrahim Mehleb in Washington on the sidelines of the US-Africa summit.
According to Psaki, the two officials discussed strategic and security relationships as well as the steps Egypt could take to continue on the path to democracy.
“That’s something the Secretary, of course, raises during every meeting,” she said. “He also raised the issue, again, of the arbitrary arrests and our concern about that and the concern he hears from members of Congress about that as well."
