All police officers who have been given custodial sentences in crimes related to honesty and honor should be sacked from the police force, the State Council said Wednesday.
The council's vice president, Mohamed Abul Rous, announced the ruling.
In April 2002, a court upheld a previous ruling sentencing a police officer to one year in prison after he was convicted in a fraud case and subsequently fired.
The State Council gave its opinion in light of this case.
