Cabinet spokesperson Hani Salah said that the resignation of Deputy Prime Minister Ziad Bahaa Eddin was not discussed at Wednesday’s Cabinet meeting.
“We will discuss it with the Cabinet reshuffle next week,” he said.
Salah also said the meeting discussed the security situation and congratulated Field Marshal Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on his promotion. “The ministers told Sisi that his role was pivotal to the success of the 30 June revolution,” he said.
“The Cabinet has affirmed its commitment to the roadmap,” he added and said that one of the other issues discussed was the UNESCO grant of US$100,000 to restore the Islamic Museum. “We thanked them for that.”
“Cabinet also expressed its support to the Interior Ministry in the face of terrorism,” he said. “The ministry is working with limited capabilities.”
He said Prime Minister Hazem Beblawy is flying to Saudi Arabia next week to support bilateral relations. “He will also discuss electrical interconnection and investment possibilities,” he said.
